I went outside yesterday evening, to go for a walk, and was gone three hours.
The Finger Lakes National Forest's Interloken Trail is about a mile down the road from me, a 12-mile trail that cuts through forest and pastureland, running North-South between Seneca and Cayuga lakes.
The pastures offer amazing views of Seneca, a few miles away. The trails are mostly good - the very north end gets and stays wet, my experience after a couple of seasons exploring. It's flat, easy walking, for the most part.
I didn't see another person on the trails, the entire time. It was perfect. Beautiful.
Lesson learned: Clean camelpak before the first use of the season. Ugh. ... Small cabin, wood stove .... I think I smoked the thing. I wonder if you can clean that. I gave up drinking out of it after a mile.
Maybe next week I'll overnight and try to do the whole thing at once.
